Message # 2 "The Potter's Hunt
by which He found me"
Text: Isaiah 64:8
Intro: last week, we saw a portrait of
the potter's heart. How he conceived
the clay before he ever went after the clay. The Potter saw the clay
before He ever sought the clay. Also, we found out that the potter has
a houseful of beautiful vessels, but desires more clay. Today, we will
look at the potter's hunt.
1) The Potter's Heart is what He desires
2) The Potter's Hunt is what he does
3) Before the Potter's house, must come heart then hunt
(religion attempts to skip this process)
4) Potter must find, free, form. the clay
In the potter's hunt, there are five beautiful
processes:
I. HIS DESCENDING WORK
(the potter coming to where the
clay is) (It is a personal work)
A) Consider the Delightfulness of His
house (pleasures)
B) Consider the Departure from the house (purpose)
C) Consider the Descending from His house (personal)
II. HIS DELIVERING
WORK (the potter
conquering what the
clay is) (it is a powerful work)
A) There is a loosening
(cuts loose, shakes loose, separates, sets
apart, (Lazarus - loose him)
B) There is a lifting
(can't get up by itself - needs a hand to lift the clay
(Ps40: He brought me up also out of an horrible pit"
C) There is a loving
("God so loved") (
Because he loved me, My Savior died
On the cross was crucified
No greater love by mortal man has ever been told
Oh praise His dear name, He loved me so
Now I am His, He's mine I know
Now I am free, because He loved me
III. HIS DEFENDING WORK
(the potter claiming what the clay is)
(it is a possessive work)
A) He claims by touching
(He touched me, Oh He touched me, and all
the joy that floods my soul. Something happened and now I know,
He touched me and made me whole)
B) He claims by taking
(potter never looses a piece of clay) Jn 17
C) He claims by transporting
(I am in a transport mode - God will click
, on me - be gone - ticket bought - [passage booked - Old Ship of Zion
IV. HIS DESIGNATING WORK
(the potter confirming what the clay is)
(It is a progressive work)
still clay, but:
1) not entangled in muck & mire, (now a clean case)
2) now in potter's basket (now a basket case)
3) now clay witha purpose (clear case)
4) now on the way to potter's house (continuing case)
5) now designated clay (future case)
V. HIS DESIGNING WORK
(the potter controlling what the clay is)
(it is a purposeful work)
finds, frees, forms, favors, features the clay
with a lpurpose
