HE'S THE MAN
Text: John 19:5
John 19:5 Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple
robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!
Introduction: In recent days, there has been a slang expression, picked up from
the American black culture, used to praise an individual for outstanding
achievement, which says: "You de MAN." (This jargon shows how our culture is
heading every day toward the JUNGLE, rather than toward HEAVEN.)
I'll tell you who THE MAN is: He's the LORD JESUS CHRIST!
Pilate said, "Behold the MAN!"
I don't understand all of the truth of the dual nature of Christ. I know He is
the God-Man, even though I can't fully explain it. It is not my point in this
sermon to endeavor to expound upon the secret and deep things of that great
mystery (1 Tim. 3:16). However, I do know that He was a MAN.
1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the
man Christ Jesus;
If He started as a teenager, He worked nearly 20 years as a carpenter. He was a
MAN.
As a man, He wasn't
Long-haired (1 Cor. 11:14)
Limp-wristed
Lazy-boned
I'm going to take the words, "THE MAN," and make an acrostic outline this
morning, using each letter to begin a point, as I ask you to join me in
