"Flashes of Your Life"

James 4: 13-17

I. THE LANGUAGE OF OUR LIFE. Verse 11-12

.

II. THE LENGTH OF OUR LIVES. Verse 14

Vr #14 For what is your LIFE? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and

then vanished away.

Psalms 90:10-12 God tells us to Number our Days and apply our hearts to wisdom.

How old are you today? The average life span for a man is 72.06 Years, for a woman

is 77.01 Years. Our time on this earth is from 70 to 80 years, and then like all others

before us, life on earth "vanishes away".

When we think of "The Length Of Our Lives" We Know.

(a). Life Is Very Short.

Verse #14 "appeareth for a little while and then is vanished away".

VANISHED AWAY = Morning Mist, Story Soon Told, Weavers Shuttle, (life is short

no matter how we gage it). You can think of someone this moment that has recently

went to meet God.

(b). Life Is Significant.

Verse #14 "for what is your life?" (You are no accident, life is for something, life has

meaning, it is important. (Three things we should use LIFE For)

1. We Should Use Life For Reaching God's World.

2. We Should Use Life For Proclaiming God's Word.

3. We Should Use Life For Learning God's Wisdom.

As We Look At Life, Let Us Consider

III. THE LORD OF OUR LIFE.

Verse #15 "For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that".

There are three ways we can know God's will. The first is through our Prayer Life,

The Written Word, and through Circumstances In Our Life.

If life is a vapour we need to seek God's will. Vr#15 "If the Lord will,"

(a). We Can Know God's Will In Salvation.

II Peter 3:9 "The Lord .... Is longsuffering to us-ward, not WILLING that any should

PERISH, but that all should come to REPENTANCE. (See Romans 10:9-13).

(b). We Can Know God's Will In Sanctification.

II Thessalonians 4:3-4 "For this is THE WILL OF GOD, even your SANCTIFICATION,

that you should abstain from fornication: That every one of you SHOULD KNOW how to

possess his vessel in SANCTIFICATION and honor;".

SANCTIFICATION = "set apart for God's use"

(c). We Can Know God's Will In Service.

Romans 12:2 "And be not CONFORMED to this WORLD: but be ye TRANSFORMED by

the RENEWING of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and

perfect, will of God.

CHARLES G. FINNEY = Law School. (God said, Charles what are you going to do now?)

IV. THE LAW OF OUR LIFE.

Verse #17 "Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin".

There Is Risk In Life, if you leave God out of it. The risk is that you may live selffishley,

and sinfully.

(a). There Are Sins Of Commission.

"Sins we commit, the bad things we do."

(b). There Are Sins Of Omission.

"The Good Things We ought to DO, but we DO NOT DO THEM (We Omit Them) and

when we do they become SIN".

(1). TITHING = Mat 23, Mal 3:7-12. (2). TOTAL SURRENDER = "total commitment"

(3). PRAYER = Luke 18:1 "men ought" (4). WITNESSING = Matt 28:19 "follow me"

(5). TRUST = Prov 3:5-6 "trust in the lord with all your heart" (6). GRUDGES
